A quick reference for every gas strut end fitting size we stock in the UK — ball studs, ball sockets/joints, clevis fork ends, eyelets and rod end bearings, with the DIN standard and thread size for each. Bookmark this page if you work with gas struts regularly.

Ball Studs (male end, DIN 71803)

Fits into a matching ball socket or ball joint. The "ball" size is the diameter of the ball itself; the thread is what screws into your bracket or panel.

Ball Joints / Ball Sockets (female end)

Fits over a matching ball stud. Metal versions (DIN 71802) are stronger and more common on cars; plastic versions with a brass insert are common on furniture and light-duty applications.

Clevis Fork Ends (DIN 71752)

A forked bracket end secured with a spring clip pin — common on toolbox, van and hatch struts.

Eyelet End Fittings

A flat eyelet (ring) end, common on ottoman bed and bed-lift gas struts, secured with a bolt or pin through the hole.

Rod End Bearings (rose joints)

Used mainly in motorsport and engineering linkages rather than gas struts — included here as they're often confused with ball joints. Available in male/female and right-hand/left-hand thread.
