Replacement Gas Struts for Stabilus, SGS & NitroLift

Looking for replacement gas struts? Most branded struts — including Stabilus Lift-O-Mat, SGS and NitroLift — can be matched by three numbers: extended length (centre to centre), force in Newtons (N) and end-fitting type. Measure your old strut, read the N-rating printed on the body, and choose the same values here. Our Stabilus, SGS & NitroLift replacement guide shows exactly how.

Heavy lid or hatch? See our heavy duty gas struts (800N–2000N). Gas struts near me? Order online before 4pm for same-day dispatch with free UK delivery — usually faster than a trip to a trade counter, and every strut comes with 30-day returns.

What Is a Gas Strut?

A gas strut (also known as a gas spring) is a self-contained cylinder filled with pressurised gas that holds a lid, door, boot or bonnet open safely, and cushions it on the way down. The "N" rating (Newtons) tells you how much force the strut applies — see our Gas Strut Force Calculator to work out the right rating for your project.

Gas Struts vs Gas Spring Struts — Is There a Difference?

No — gas strut, gas spring, and gas spring strut all describe exactly the same component: a gas-filled cylinder that extends under pressure to hold something open and cushions its movement. In the UK trade, "gas strut" is the most common term; some manufacturers and international suppliers use "gas spring" or "gas spring strut" interchangeably. Whichever term you search for, you'll find the same DIN-standard parts in this range, sorted by N-rating, length and end-fitting type so you can find the exact match for your bed, cabinet, gate, vehicle or toolbox.
